This job is located in the City of Duncan Oklahoma. The Electrical Inspector will function at a full performance level utilizing knowledge and skills in performing Commercial and Residential inspections.  The Electrical Inspector will conduct all required electrical inspections. 


  • Performing inspections related to the construction, installation, repair, and alteration of electrical wiring as performed by contractors throughout The City of Duncan.
  • Maintenance of electrical wiring, apparatus, and fixtures are also part of the inspection process.
  • Inspections are carried out independently with only unusual problems and code interpretations referred to the Oklahoma Branch Manager.
  • The employee must exhibit tact and diplomacy in communicating with citizens, contractors, and City of Duncan personnel concerning relevant aspects of work performed.
  • General job functions include: rough inspections, final inspections, information exchange, form and report completion
  • May require some travel to other jurisdictions as needed.


  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
  • Skill in enforcing electrical codes.
  • Skill in communicating verbally using tact and diplomacy in citing or explaining codes.
  • Skill in interpreting and applying knowledge of electrical codes to work performed.
  • Skill in reading and working from wiring plans, blueprints, drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Skill in making under-slab, rough-in, field and final inspections.
  • Ability to make objective decisions and assume responsibility for work performed.
  • Willingness to uphold established quality and safety standards for electrical inspections.
  • Ability to write report using a computer and its associated programs.
  • Possession of a valid Oklahoma State Unlimited Electrical Inspector License or ICC Commercial and Residential certifications.
