This position will perform AP functions.  The Accounts Payable Specialist work includes, processing invoices/expenses into automated accounting system, issue payments, respond to vendor and employee inquiries.  




General Responsibilities – In coordination with Assistant Controller, perform the following responsibilities:


  1. Review invoices/expenses and supporting documentation, for the accuracy.
  2. Stamp Receipt Date of invoices/expenses.
  3. Code the Invoices/Expenses, based on type of expenses.
  4. Enter Invoices/Expenses into workflow for review and approval.
  5. Prepare complete Accounts Payable Package for processing weekly payment, including issuing checks and creating EFT file.
  6. Mailing of checks and EFT advices.
  7. Filing the Invoices/Expenses.
  8. Handling Payment inquiries from vendors
  9. Creating AP History Reports, when needed.
  10. Prepare for and help coordinate the year-end closing activities
  11. Assist with other general accounting related responsibilities as assigned.


  1. Minimum of 2-5 year’s experience in financial accounting government contracting environment.
  2. Demonstrated ability to use large scale automated accounting systems, knowledge of CostPoint
  3. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to work well under pressure, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.

Physical Demands

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment and must be able to communicate in verbal and written form.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.
