  • Responsibilities




    We are seeking experienced Residential Inspectors who are available to travel to disaster-impacted locations to support disaster relief efforts. We are not first responders, but when disasters strike, our team travels to the disaster areas to provide needed residential inspection services.


    We are looking for individuals who are willing, able, and readily available to be part of the on-call  team and who can report for work and travel on short notice to disaster sites and remain engaged in the recovery efforts for varying periods of time.  Longer assignments may include rotations for travel back and forth between their home and the disaster sites, or may require relocation.




    Inspectors will perform inspections of private homes, apartments, and other residential structures. Inspectors shall be qualified to determine habitability and code compliance, and understand application of HUD residential standards as they pertain to housing units being inspected.


    Inspectors will be qualified in residential electric and plumbing and heating for inspections, if required.


    Deliverables may include completed checklists, individual designs, and preliminary cost estimates and construction schedules.



    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
    • Minimum of 2 years of housing/construction experience in the housing/construction trades, real estate, appraisal, or related areas of inspection experience
    • EIT, PE, NECEPT, NICET, OSHA, ACI registrations a plus


    • Field experience in housing/construction inspection of building projects
    • Must be able to independently assess damaged dwellings and record storm related damages and associated repairs in accordance with HUD standards
    • Must have excellent verbal and technical writing skills


    • Experience with FEMA Individual Assistance program laws, policies and regulations
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel)
    • Must be able to work in team environment


    • Must have current Passport
    • Valid driver’s license required
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must be able to pass a background investigation


    Candidates selected for these positions will be required to submit to a background screening which may include, but is not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, driving record check, criminal background check, and an investigative consumer report. These screenings will be conducted by IBTS’ background vendor of choice and will be conducted in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local law.
